Darkroom Launch Exhibition


I’m very happy to be participating in The Darkroom’s launch and fundraiser event on Thursday 28th of June (6.30-10.30 pm) at The Darkroom, 32 Brunswick Street North, Dublin 7. I’m donating two colour digital prints (unmounted) and two handmade black and white darkroom prints (mounted) which will be for sale at an exhibition featuring donations by established and emerging Visual Artists. The image above, which features street art by Solus, is one of the prints I’ve donated. Hope you can make it to this event in which you’ll be able to find out about The Darkroom’s new website and Membership System, Residencies program, David James Carey Award, full range of Courses and opportunities, and also taste some of the finest Irish whiskey, kindly donated by Jameson Distillery!

Harold’s Cross Festival Photowalk and Exhibition


I’m very happy to be taking part in the Harold’s Cross Festival this year with a photography exhibition in the Five Points Cafe in Harold’s Cross entitled ‘Dreams of the Grand Canal’. On exhibit also are photographs taken by some of the participants at the photowalk I led last year along the Canal for the Festival. The exhibition will be on display until the end of the Festival on Sunday 20th of May. That morning I will lead a photowalk starting from the pond at Mount Argus Park at 11.30am. All ages, levels and types of cameras are welcome and there will be an exhibition of the participants’ images at next year’s Festival. Hope to see you on the 20th!

Harold’s Cross Festival Photowalk and Exhibition

Really looking forward to participating in the Harold’s Cross Festival this year with a photowalk and exhibition. The photowalk will be along the Grand Canal and will start at 11.30am on Sunday 14th of May from Portobello Bridge (Rathmines). All ages, levels of ability and types of cameras are welcome, even phone cameras! There will be a photography exhibition at next year’s Festival featuring the photographs taken by this year’s participants and you can see an exhibition of images taken at last year’s Festival in the Five Points cafe in Harold’s Cross from today (Monday 8th) to the end of the Festival. The exhibition also features a a small selection of my own black and white photographs entitled ‘Dreams of Harold’s Cross’. Hope you like it and to see you during the Festival!

September Street Photography Course

My next Street Photography Course at The Darkroom will be on Thursday 1st of September. This course is aimed at those who wish to shoot urban scenes and everyday life on the streets of Dublin and is suitable for all levels. You will learn the best camera settings for different lighting conditions, focusing techniques, tips on composition and much more! Comprehensive notes will be given to the students. More details below:
– Thursday 1st September, 7-9pm: introduction and theory. Class held at The Darkroom (32 Brunswick Street North, Stoneybatter, Dublin 7).
– Saturday 3rd September, 10.30am-3.30pm (including breaks). Photowalk starting at Trinity College at 10.30am. Finishing at approximately 3.30pm.
– Thursday 8th September (indoor session: critique of students work and conclusion)

July Street Photography Course

My next Street Photography Course at The Darkroom will be on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd of July. This course is aimed at those who wish to shoot urban scenes and everyday life on the streets of Dublin and is suitable for all levels. You will learn the best camera settings for different lighting conditions, focusing techniques, tips on composition and much more! Comprehensive notes will be given to the students. More details below:
– Friday 22nd July, 7-9pm: introduction and theory. Class held at The Darkroom (32 Brunswick Street North, Stoneybatter, Dublin 7).
– Saturday 23rd July, 10am-5pm. Photowalk starting at Trinity College at 10am. Finishing at approximately 3.30pm at The Darkroom for a review and critique of the shots taken by the students during the day.

June Street Photography Course


My next Street Photography Course at The Darkroom will start on Tuesday 7th of June (7-9pm) and will be held at 32 Brunswick Street North (Stoneybatter, Dublin 7) and at outdoor locations. This course is aimed at those who wish to shoot urban scenes and everyday life on the streets of Dublin and is suitable for beginners and intermediate students. You will learn the best camera settings for different lighting conditions, focusing techniques, tips on composition and much more! Here are the dates of the course:
– Tuesday 7th June (indoor session: introduction and theory): 7-9pm
– Saturday 11th June (outdoor session starting from Trinity College): 10.30am-15.30pm including breaks
– Tuesday 14th June (indoor session: critique of students work and conclusion)

Harold’s Cross Festival Photowalk 2016

I’m looking forward to leading another photowalk this year for the Harold’s Cross Festival. This time we’ll be meeting at Mount Argus Park (near the pond) at 11.30 on Sunday the 15th of May. All levels, ages and kinds of cameras are welcome, even phone cameras. I’m hoping to organize an exhibition of the photos taken during this walk for the 2017 Festival. Hope to see you at the walk!
